Prime Video released the first full trailer for Mike Flanagan’s Carrie and will drop all eight episodes in a binge release on October 6. The series stars Summer H. Howell as Carrie White and Samantha Sloyan as Margaret White, with Siena Agudong as Sue Snell, Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen, Joel Oulette as Tommy Ross, Josie Totah as Tina, Amber Midthunder as Miss Desjardin, and Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle. Flanagan directed episodes one, two, seven, and eight; Kate Siegel, Axelle Carolyn, Kyra Sedgwick, and Hiromi Kamata direct the remaining episodes, and the cast also includes Michael Trucco, Crystal Balint, Rahul Kohli, Tim Bagley, and Heather Graham. A Prime Video press release says the eight-episode series expands Stephen King’s original novel, exploring the forces that shape Carrie White as she navigates modern cruelty and pressure. At San Diego Comic-Con Flanagan urged viewers to set preconceptions aside, saying the team “took it apart into its essential pieces and used that to build something new,” and he called the prom scene the most complex sequence he has ever filmed. The series adapts King’s first published novel and promises a reinvention that builds toward a single shattering night.
