Billionaire Chris Rokos to quit UK over tax rises

Hedge fund billionaire Chris Rokos is preparing to leave the UK and move his residency to Greece, and will open an office in Athens, Bloomberg reports. Rokos, founder of Rokos Capital Management in 2015, was ranked third in the Sunday Times list of top taxpayers after an estimated UK tax bill of £330m in 2025 and has a net worth of about $4bn, according to Bloomberg’s billionaires index. This year he donated a record £190m to the University of Cambridge to create the Rokos School of Government and has overseen a roughly £175m renovation of the 200-room Tottenham House mansion near Marlborough. The move follows a string of high-profile departures after the UK overhauled the non-dom regime, including changes that tax foreign income and gains after four years and expose global assets to inheritance tax after 10 years. Greece offers a 15-year high-net-worth investor regime requiring at least €500,000 of local investment within three years in exchange for a flat €100,000 annual tax on foreign income. Other recent exits named by the Guardian include Shravin Bharti Mittal, Nassef Sawiris and Richard Gnodde; provisional UK figures show a 0.5% decline in non-domiciled residents to 73,400 in the year to April.

Chris Rokos. He’ll be donating to Reform next but Britain is well rid. - Funded Cameron in run up to 2015 election. Thereby funding library and youth club closures, cuts to school budgets, armed forces/local authority budgets. Huge growth in corridor care & overcrowded prisons.
