On a Monday evangelical podcast with host Bryce Crawford, JD Vance said he is "doing as much of God’s work as possible" and that he is OK "if that leads to the end times," which he said "are coming." Vance, who published a spiritual memoir earlier this summer about his conversion to Catholicism, said he would not be "shocked if the antichrist was walking among us" and warned that focusing too much on end-times prophecy can be harmful. He cited artificial intelligence as troubling, calling an acquaintance who uses AI as a marriage counselor "kind of satanic" and saying divorcing humans from social elements is "very bad." Vance said he had "been in meetings with world leaders" that felt "spiritually dark" and that certain remarks set off "every spiritual alarm bell in my body." He also defended Donald Trump’s deleted AI-generated photo depicting Trump as Jesus, saying the president did not mean to mock God and had a sense of humor; the article notes Trump deleted the photo after outrage from Christian supporters.

The US resembles Henry VIII's court more closely every day. It is run by a King they can't get rid of who doesn't believe in God but uses religion to justify his draconian actions. We must resist their desire for unbridled power dressed up as religion.

I don't think those things are mutually exclusive tbf. They are very well established traditions in the US. That isn't a good thing. But they are established and institutionalised.
