Stan Kroenke's Kroenke Sports & Entertainment has agreed to purchase a controlling interest in the Los Angeles Angels from Arte Moreno, with the sale expected to close in Q1 2027 subject to Major League Baseball approval. Kroenke said his company reached the deal with the Moreno family; a team press release cited the Q1 2027 closing timeline and MLB signoff. USA Today noted strong social-media responses and widespread optimism that new ownership could improve the franchise. Kroenke already owns the NFL's Los Angeles Rams, the NBA's Denver Nuggets, the NHL's Colorado Avalanche, MLS's Colorado Rapids, the NLL's Colorado Mammoth, and Arsenal in the English Premier League. Arte Moreno paid $184 million for the Angels in 2004, a detail observers have cited when comparing past and present valuations. MLB approval requires owner votes; one post cited the league rule that a three quarters majority is needed, meaning up to eight owners could block an agreement. The transaction shifts day-to-day control away from Moreno and sets a timetable for MLB review and a final closing in early 2027.

Kroenke Sports & Entertainment to Acquire the Los
Angeles Angels of Anaheim
Transaction pairs one of the original West Coast franchises with KSE's global portfolio of teams, venues, media platforms and mixed-use districts
September 1, 2026 - Kroenke Sports & Entertainment ("KSE") today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire a controlling interest in the Los Angeles Angels Baseball Club from the Moreno family. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, subject to customary closing conditions and approval by Major League Baseball
The transaction meaningfully deepens KSE's presence in one of the largest sports and entertainment markets in the United States.
Kroenke-affiliated entities own the Los Angeles Rams and developed SoFi Stadium and the surrounding 300-acre Hollywood Park district in Inglewood. That project has become the anchor of a new sports and entertainment corridor in Los Angeles County, and will host Olympic and Paralympic events in 2028.
The Angels acquisition extends this footprint south into a market of more than three million residents with its own distinct civic identity, corporate base and tourism economy. The addition of the Angels to the KSE portfolio creates the opportunity for a year-round Southern California calendar of events.
"The Angels are a storied franchise anchored in a great market. We look forward to an exciting future with the Angels organization." - E. STANLEY KROENKE, Owner & Chairman,
KSE
"The Angels Organization is pleased to announce this transaction with Kroenke Sports & Entertainment. The Moreno Family has been honored to steward the Angels for 23 years and we believe with KE's experience and success they are the best next owner for the franchise.
The Angels Organization looks forward to continuing its commitment to the fans, our employees, the players and our business partners." - ARTE MORENO, Angels Baseball LP.
