Stan Kroenke agrees to buy Los Angeles Angels from Arte Moreno

Stan Kroenke's Kroenke Sports & Entertainment has agreed to buy a controlling interest in the Los Angeles Angels from Arte Moreno, the organizations announced. The sale is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027 and remains subject to Major League Baseball approval and a due diligence phase, Angels president Molly Jolly said in a reposted statement. USA Today reported social media showed a surge of optimism from fans at news of the ownership change. Kroenke already owns the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams, the NBA’s Denver Nuggets, the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche, MLS’s Colorado Rapids, the National Lacrosse League’s Colorado Mammoth and Arsenal FC, raising questions about whether he can replicate his other franchises’ success in MLB. Molly Jolly also indicated Moreno did not sell his entire stake and will remain a minority owner, though she would not disclose the percentage. League approval and the owners’ vote will determine the final timetable and any immediate operational changes.
