Barcelona complete signing of Gabriel Jesus

Barcelona have completed the permanent signing of Brazil striker Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal for a fee reported at about £8.6m (10m euros). Jesus completed his medical on Monday and joins the Spanish champions after falling down Arsenal’s pecking order behind Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres amid recent injury issues. Jesus moved to Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022 and made 123 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 32 goals and recording 22 assists. Barcelona’s arrival of Jesus follows their summer signings of Anthony Gordon and Rodri from the Premier League, and multiple reports say Jesus has signed a deal running until 2029. Napoli had shown interest in the forward before Barcelona secured the transfer. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirmed Jesus was not training with the squad ahead of the move. Barcelona currently view incoming business as effectively closed after this addition while they continue to pursue alternatives such as Atlético Madrid’s Julián Álvarez, a move Atlético have resisted.

Hope that Gabriel Jesus gets things back on track for himself at Barcelona. It's a shame injuries derailed his time at Arsenal. Those three months before the '22 World Cup were something. The attack looked irresistible with him leading the line, popping up on the wings, etc.

Gabriel Jesus made 123 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 32 goals & assisting 18 in all competitions. Probably in the minority in that I think his early impact was over-indexed based on his high energy being in direct contrast to the paucity of what had gone before (Lacazette barely running).

He did however score one of my favourite goals of recent times, the third in a 3-1 win over ten Hag's Man Utd, where Fabio Vieira played him through and the noise built as he went clean through, he sat down Diogo Dalot, a pause in the noise and then he slotted home to send the stadium in to raptures
