Transfer deadline day, summer window closes
Transfer deadline day in England where, due to financial "rules", 5 clubs can do whatever the fuck they please and the rest of the league has to spend exorbitant sums on constantly swapping mediocre jobbers between themselves
The Daftest Lap 🏴🇪🇺9A league where Man City can rack up about 100 odd Financial Fair Play violations and they'll still dock ten points from Everton instead A fucking omnishambles of a league, really
diaminedave.bsky.social3Seems all the clubs are doing it!! Valuation goes up each season so that they cover the previous season spend... Seems like accountancy musical chairs, with someone left standing holding all the IOU's!
Phil2The new reality is that the “big” clubs no longer have to do any development. They watch the rest take risks with championship and foreign players, then if it works out, they have them tapped up for 3x the salary. No risk at all.
dhumphrey9112Hmm, it would be nice to get someone mediocre.
Brian Schmetzer says there are ‘a couple’ deals that Sounders are still trying to push across line ahead of tomorrow’s transfer deadline.
JD5I’m optimistic. They surprised us all with Joveljić, so there is at least some reason to hope they’ve recognized the urgency. Also it’s more fun to be hopeful for your team than to be a constant drag. I know some people TRULY enjoy hating on their own team, but I can’t stay in that space long.
bedisamrath.bsky.social3A couple deals? That means more than one possible signing with the deadline being tmrw??????????????? impossible
🚨 Exc: League One Stevenage are the leading contender to sign Tommy Setford on loan. Arsenal hoping to find deadline day move for 20-year-old GK after Las Palmas move stalled. @theathleticfc.bsky.social 🔴⚪️🧤⬇️ www.nytimes.com/athletic/liv...
Jan7from Gran Canaria to Stevenage, you have to feel for the lad
Na na na STATMAN!1Lads better than Kepa and Meslier
Steve Hills5If he plays, League 1 is a really good level for a 20 year old Keeper. Difficult to see a Championship side taking a punt on a kid between the sticks. That level will provide brilliant experience and different to anything he's had a youth level
Cartoon Steve Bould.5Another outgoing?! Berta is taking the piss now.
🚨 EXCL: Sunderland reach agreement with Lyon to sign Malick Fofana. 21yo winger given permission to travel for medical & complete permanent transfer from #OlympiqueLyonnais to #SAFC . Paperwork stage for Belgium int’l to move on 5yr contract @theathleticfc.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/athletic/755...
Hincapie’s bum1Does anyone know the fee? And any story in the arsenal of it? Did we actually want him or was it OL positioning for a higher fee from Sunderland?
TotaGoal1Un vrai coup de pouce pour Sunderland, ce Fofana !
Phil Costa55I'm fine with this not happening. Talented player but don't think we were seriously considering Fofana unless the terms really suited us. My issue is more about our overall process this summer which has felt muddled and reactive. We're still strong but probably leaving ourselves a bit short.
Chris Weatherspoon6Specifics of Sunderland deal for Malick Fofana will be announced to the market (today/tomorrow) by Lyon but currently known to be a minimum €30million guaranteed and may tip into club record territory #SAFC three largest ever signings would be from Ligue 1: Diarra, Methalie, Fofana
County Road Bobblers4Interesting to see how he gets on, Everton wanted him last summer but he refused to play for a club not in European competitions. Since had a bad ACL injury, but still young
BREAKING: Reports around Folarin Balogun tonight and his move to Everton. I understand the deal for the striker IS still being worked on right now by Everton and Monaco More on our Transfer Deadline Special on Total Sport on BBC Radio Merseyside Watch from 10: bbc.co.uk/sport/footba...
Andy5Save us, Guilia, we're in meltdown😂
Mark_EFC2Good luck at this week's press conference Might be a good idea to call in sick as i doubt Mr Moyes going to be very happy
chloew1656.bsky.social1I know you announced them but I'm sorry, they were most definitely not discussed and there was no analysis as this announcement promised there would be. Waste of two hours for Tranmere fans.
Paul J1Told you I need blood pressure tablets Giulia ..... wake me up in the morning when it's all over🤣
Starmer resigns on transfer deadline day 😂.. every bit of this is perfect.. and they said he couldn’t play politics.. oh Andy &co you have been mauled !! Great decision by Starmer .. huge loss .. and the extent of that will increase every day Burnham is PM !
Ilikecaketoo (UK)8Yep. I don’t blame him. He’s clearly taken time away to work out what’s best for him & his family, and after how he was treated, I don’t blame him. Especially if the right job has come up now rather than later.
I’m not sure he could have stood down during recess, this was the first opportunity.
Transfer deadline day, or as Leeds fans know it, several chronically unfunny accounts posting “Leeds sign bent” and “Don’t go to bed just yet” from public libraries. #lufc
Bob S.3I won't bother then if thats your attitude
EastStandUpper3Already seen an “… or as it’s known in Leeds, Tuesday” post.
Rich Holmes2Got it all out of my system yesterday. Back to work today, so there's that blessed release from.....checks notes.....a normal Tuesday.
Hans S1Sometimes wonder if some of our fans remaining active on Twitter still want us to sign Dwight Gayle?
Andy Moran1.....or as I like to call it Andy - Transfer Dreadline Day!
