Blue Jays beat Mariners 8-1, push playoff odds up

The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Seattle Mariners 8-1 in Toronto on August 28, 2026. Kazuma Okamoto hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth off Seranthony Domínguez, a 400-foot drive with a 106.8 mph exit velocity and a 23 degree launch angle that was his 27th homer of the season. George Springer went 4-for-4 for Toronto. The win moved the Blue Jays to 66-70 and, with Cleveland losing, left Toronto 2.5 games behind the Guardians for the final American League wild card spot. The victory raised Toronto's wild-card chances as the two teams head into the stretch run of the season.
