Tarik Skubal returns to Detroit, throws six strong innings in Dodgers 2-1 win

Tarik Skubal returned to Comerica Park as a visitor and threw six strong innings, allowing one run on four hits while striking out seven in the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-1 win over the Detroit Tigers. Detroit gave Skubal a pregame tribute and he received mostly cheers and some boos during his first game back since the trade earlier this month. Eduardo Valencia doubled and Max Clark followed with a two-out triple to give Detroit a one-run lead, and the Dodgers tied the game on Miguel Rojas' RBI single. Freddie Freeman delivered a two-out single that scored Teoscar Hernández to put the Dodgers ahead 2-1. Evan Phillips (2-2), Brock Stewart and Alex Vesia combined for three scoreless innings of relief and Tanner Scott recorded his 20th save in 22 chances to finish the game; Jacob Waguespack took the loss after 1 1/3 innings pitched.
