More than 1.2 million Texas voter registrations are on the state’s voter suspense list because county officials could not confirm those voters’ current addresses. Being on the suspense list does not cancel registration or the right to vote but can require an extra step at the polls. Counties place voters on the list when election mail is returned as undeliverable or officials receive information suggesting a voter moved. Voters who still live in the same county can cast a regular ballot after completing a statement of residence; voters who moved to another county may have to vote in their previous county or use a provisional ballot. The deadline to register or update a Texas voter registration for the upcoming election is Oct. 5; early voting begins Oct. 19 and Election Day is Nov. 3. Texans can check their status on the Secretary of State’s voter registration lookup and contact their county elections office to update or confirm their information. Statewide contests on the ballot include the governor’s race featuring Greg Abbott, Gina Hinojosa and Pat Dixon and the U.S. Senate race including Ken Paxton, James Talarico and Ted Brown, and some voters will see different U.S. House districts because the legislature approved new congressional maps in 2025.

I'm from Texas so I checked my voter registration a couple of days ago. I saw that it had been put under "Suspense". So, I had to go to the election office to have this corrected. It's an easy fix, but not everyone knows about, or has access to their local election office.

Go to votetexas.gov to check your voter registration status in Texas. Many of those in suspense are due to “suspected” changes of address that haven’t been recorded in voter registration information.

I have been checking the voter registrations with my family almost daily Texas has me so paranoid. I keep having this fear they will drop us after the deadline to reregister in October. I also have never been so unenthusiastic to vote for someone. I will but still.
