With two outs in the ninth inning at Citizens Bank Park on August 23, 2026, Edmundo Sosa doubled and then Kyle Schwarber hit a two-run walk-off home run to lift the Phillies to a 6-4 victory over the Cardinals. Philadelphia had trailed 4-0 going to the bottom of the ninth before the six-run rally completed the comeback. Schwarber’s homer came off Cardinals reliever Riley O’Brien and measured 459 feet with a 108.5 mph exit velocity and a 33 degree launch angle. The blast was the Phillies’ first walk-off home run in more than three years. The win extended Philadelphia’s streak to nine consecutive victories and closed out the game in dramatic fashion with two outs. The rally followed an otherwise quiet night for the Phillies until the final frame, when several hitters contributed to the game-changing sequence.
