Carlos Sainz Jnr has signed a new multi-year contract to remain with Williams, the team announced ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix. Sainz joined Williams last year after Ferrari made way for Lewis Hamilton and took two podiums for his new team in 2025. Williams have struggled in 2026 and Sainz has scored six points so far this season, but he said he is "thrilled" to extend his deal and praised the people, investments and hard work at the factory and tracks. Sainz added "We have what it takes to turn this around together" and said he is committed to helping get Williams back to where it belongs. Team principal James Vowles called Sainz a leader who works day in, day out with his engineers and said retaining Sainz alongside Alex Albon gives Williams "one of the strongest line-ups on the grid." The announcement effectively locks in Williams's driver pairing through 2027 following Albon's recent contract news.
