FIFA's management board reaffirmed full support for president Gianni Infantino after an emergency meeting at FIFA's Africa office in Rabat, where Infantino apologised for "errors" in his shelved proposal to sell stakes in competitions through a new subsidiary, FIFA Forward Enterprise. The board and secretary general Mattias Grafstrom sent a signed letter to FIFA vice-presidents, the FIFA Council and all 211 member associations apologising and committing that the mistakes will not recur, and Grafstrom and Infantino were pictured together at a Women's Africa Cup of Nations match after the meeting. FIFA said mistakes around the FFE plan and its handling, including leaks to the media on 28 July, were acknowledged, and it denied a Times report that Infantino promised Morocco the 2030 World Cup final in exchange for support. UEFA said it has lost confidence in Infantino and called the FFE proposal an "opaque" deal, while Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said he no longer has confidence in the FIFA president and former player Luis Figo publicly called for Infantino to resign. FIFA's statement also warned it will not tolerate attacks on its integrity and said it will take measures to protect its name and reputation. Infantino, who apologised and remains under fire, appears set to fight for a fourth term as president.
