Tony Romo arrested on suspicion of OWI in Milwaukee

Tony Romo, the 46-year-old CBS NFL analyst and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback, was arrested Thursday night on suspicion of operating a vehicle while under the influence, the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office said. Sheriff’s officials said Romo was stopped driving south on Interstate 43 around 6 p.m., performed poorly on field sobriety tests, and was taken into custody, booked and released. Romo had been in the Milwaukee area to golf in the annual Wisconsin Amateur Championship and attended high school in Burlington, about 35 miles from Milwaukee. Wisconsin law treats a first-offense OWI as a noncriminal forfeiture that typically carries a $150 to $300 fine. Romo has a court appearance set for September 21. Romo has been CBS’s lead game analyst since 2017; his NFL career ran from 2004 to 2016 entirely with the Dallas Cowboys, earning four Pro Bowl selections. He remains the Cowboys’ career leader in touchdown passes with 248 and held the franchise passing yards record until Dak Prescott surpassed him last season.
