Today’s Bird of the Day theme is Corvidae, with an alternate theme of Blue Sky. A recently fledged Willow Warbler perches lightly on the gently curving stem of a dried wildflower, its fluffy pale-grey and cream breast still showing the soft down of youth. Olive-green feathers wash across its back and wings, while a warm yellow tint brightens the throat and flanks. The young bird faces right with an alert, dark eye and a slender orange-brown bill, appearing calm as it surveys the surrounding meadow. Out-of-focus purple wildflowers and green foliage create a colourful, painterly backdrop beneath a clear blue sky, with warm sunlight illuminating the bird’s delicate plumage and giving the scene a peaceful late-summer feel.

Beautiful! Thank you Deb I love these birds. I’ve seen more in my backyard lately than usual for this time of year, they usually wait for the fuschia to bloom. I saw one dive through the air like a fly-catcher and snatch a flying bug - so now I know they don’t only eat nectar.
