Draft DHS press release claims thousands of non‑citizens on voter rolls in 4 states

This is from a draft press release that even DHS didn't have the stones to release and it did not include any evidence of actual voting by non-citizens. But you don't find this out until the third graf. I thoroughly hate it when people say "do better," but Christ Almighty Politico, do better.

Given the history of similar audits, and the fact that DHS’s systems are riddled with errors, we should expect that these numbers are very likely false and have not been properly verified yet. Multiple previous state audits produced splashy numbers that evaporated on further investigation.

The article says there were allegedly 200k+ non-citizens on voter rolls in California. But Trump admin never got access to California voter rolls. It was blocked in court.

A draft, leaked press release confirming the President's priors is not evidence, particularly when it is not backed up by methodology or indictments. Remember that Trump has been after US Attorneys to go after election fraud, especially noncitizen voting, hard. Where are the cases if this is real?

You are reporting on a 'draft press release', not an actual release, that is official? So they could say anything they want, make up lies, and you report it as fact. This release will never come out, but you did their work for them, and reported as fact. Propaganda 101, get the press to sell it

Media: If you're running with the DHS press release as is, please put your $ behind it. Print the names and contact info of ten individual persons that they're claiming have committed felonies. No? If you're not willing to face the defamation claim, why do you think the overall numbers are real?

aside from the obvious (the lack of evidence should be the headline, not buried in the body) is it even accurate to "report" this as "DHS says" if you're basing it on a *draft* press release? DHS isn't saying it until the press release is sent out.
