No. 4 pick Caleb Wilson scored 35 points, making seven of 11 three-pointers, in his Chicago Bulls NBA Summer League debut Friday at the Thomas & Mack Center, a new high for a rookie in a summer-league debut this year. Wilson played 32 minutes, 56 seconds and finished 12-for-21 from the field while the Bulls fell 97-96 to the Memphis Grizzlies. Wilson’s first shot was an off-the-dribble look over a screen that he sank, and he described the performance by saying, "I’ve been working on it hard for a long time, so I’m not shocked at all." Wilson faced No. 3 pick Cameron Boozer in the marquee matchup; Boozer finished with 21 points, six rebounds and four assists. The game exposed both strengths and flaws for Wilson: he showed high-level perimeter shooting and athleticism with three blocks, but he also had six turnovers and occasional ball-handling lapses. Returning players Matas Buzelis, Josh Giddey and others attended courtside as the top-four picks squared off. The outing establishes a scoring benchmark for Wilson while underscoring clear areas for development that will shape the Bulls’ offseason evaluation and his rookie-season expectations.
