Morocco beats Canada 3-0, eliminates hosts from World Cup
Morocco head coach Mohamed Ouahbi on Jesse Marsch's claim that Canada were the better team, "would rather be us than them," etc: “It takes some nerve to say that when you lose 3-0." www.theguardian.com/football/202...
Nobody’s ever accused Jesse of lacking nerve
Conceeding on the counter at a late stage when you are pushing to get a goal, you can get caught out and I was less worried about the final score. Canada had a great first half and have come along way but the final third is problematic in terms of taking your opportunities-converting half chances
Marsch was clearly talking about being proud of his players for how they played, especially in the first half. 'I wouldn't trade this group for anyone' type comment. Nothing to do with Morocco. #CanMNT #Morocco #CANMAR
Yep, Canada was faster, outplayed them, and had an answer to everything Morocco could muster, and could've easily been up 2-0 within the first 15 minutes. Sometimes the better team on that day loses. Morocco's only hope is Paraguay, and France is toying with them (but no goals, so...)
If this is the best question you have for the Morocco head coach after that game, quit your job and go work at McDonalds
Thierry Henry had the only good take on this. Marsch is clearly talking to Canada and Canadian fans only. In true Marsch fashion, he doesn’t care who he pisses off I get why some might be pissed but easier to accept when you understand it has nothing to do with you.
Jesse Marsch is a pretty good coach who needs to stop trying so hard to convince everyone that he’s a pretty good coach
Marsch is using the national hockey coach tactic of building a siege mentality to the point of absurdity. I think it's cringe but Canadians love this shit. But I also feel the scoreline definitely flattered Morocco so I hope they get fucked in the quarters for this hubris.
If you swap the number of goals Canada scored with the number of goals Morocco scored, we clearly won the game
Ya know, if Canada had outplayed Morocco I would say "fair, right on" but Morocco barely looked like they'd played together throughout the first half and Canada couldn't get past them and then in the second half they got their shit together. Canada wasn't "by far the better team" at all.
Real Hefty Neal thinking here. If you play the match in reverse,
I can’t hate the guy for trying to put a positive spin on Canada’s performance, but also lol
🚨🇨🇦 Canada manager Jesse Marsch: “The better team today? I’d rather be us than Morocco”.
In what way were Canada better? Blasting balls towards goal and fouling people? Metrics Jesse, metrics...they suggest Morocco were the better team.
#lufc @michaeltsb.bsky.social the absolute disrespect he's showing by speaking.
He proved he preferred losing when he was our coach at Leeds.
He'd rather be Canada than U.S. He'd rather be US than Morocco I'd rather that us could hire a bus And run the twat over tomorrow
