Mauricio Pochettino threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Seattle Mariners game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday, July 3, tossing to Mariners manager Dan Wilson and landing a solid, on-target throw. The crowd and the U.S. men’s national team cheered as Pochettino and Wilson exchanged a handshake and Pochettino thanked the crowd, saying "It's amazing to be again here and feel your support. This is an amazing city, it's a soccer city." The USMNT was introduced before the game, walking a red carpet beneath an archway of flags; several players took photos behind the mound and carried baseballs. Cristian Roldan, the final player introduced who played at the University of Washington and now with the Seattle Sounders, carried the Mariners Trident and urged, "Let's go win a World Cup!" Pochettino is using the Seattle visit as part of his U.S. immersion, having praised Chick-fil-A and embraced country music, with Gio Reyna noting Pochettino "listens to more country music than anyone now." The USMNT will play Belgium in a World Cup round-of-16 match on Monday, July 6, at Lumen Field, which sits across the street from T-Mobile Park.
