Ukrainian drones strike St. Petersburg oil terminal, blaze reported

Explosions and a large fire broke out at a major St. Petersburg oil storage and export terminal on the Gulf of Finland after long-range drones were heard around 06:30 a.m. on July 4. Photos and videos showed black plumes of smoke rising from the port area as Ukraine again struck the facility, described by EA WorldView as one of Russia’s largest fuel storage and export terminals with a reported throughput of 12.5 million tons per year. President Volodymyr Zelensky framed the strikes as part of pressure on Russia’s energy sector and said partners should use tools against Russia’s oil fleet and financial system while strengthening air defenses. Kyiv’s attack followed earlier damage to the same terminal in early June that undermined the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Russian and Ukrainian sources also linked the operation to wider recent Ukrainian strikes on Russian-held infrastructure, including ports and military sites in the region.

🇵🇱 The Telegraph/Onet: The US warns Russia may stage an armed provocation against Poland or the Baltics within months – from drone strikes to a border incursion. Moscow could blame GPS failure and push talks to weaken support for Ukraine. NATO may strike Kaliningrad.
