Youri Tielemans scored a penalty after 124 minutes and 44 seconds to complete an extraordinary comeback as Belgium beat Senegal 3-2 after extra time in the World Cup round of 32 in Seattle. Senegal had led 2-0 through Habib Diarra's 25th-minute finish and Ismaïla Sarr's early second-half strike, and looked to be heading for the last 16. Romelu Lukaku pulled Belgium back in the 86th minute with a near-post finish and Tielemans capitalised on Mory Diaw's misjudgement to head home the equaliser three minutes later. Tielemans and Leandro Trossard had exchanged a heated argument during the second-half hydration break before combining for the leveller. In the final moments of extra time a VAR review awarded a penalty after Lamine Camara caught Tielemans, and Tielemans converted into the top-right corner to score the latest goal in men's World Cup history. Belgium advance to face either the United States or Bosnia-Herzegovina in the last 16.
