Pacers sign Kelly Oubre Jr., two-year deal

sportsJul 1, 202620235

The Indiana Pacers have agreed to sign free agent wing Kelly Oubre Jr. to a two-year, nearly $17 million contract, sources tell ESPN’s Shams Charania. Oubre, a 6-foot-8 wing, is entering his 12th NBA season at age 30 and spent the last three seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers. In 50 appearances for Philadelphia this past season, including 41 starts, he averaged 14.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.4 steals and 31.5 minutes per game while shooting 36.0 percent from three. Oubre reached unrestricted free agency after completing a two-year, $16.4 million contract with the 76ers, according to Spotrac. The deal adds a veteran wing with perimeter shooting and defensive activity to the Pacers’ roster for the next two seasons.

Very reasonable deal for Oubre. Since they had his Bird rights, Sixers could have offered Oubre the same contract, even after the Wade signing. Doing so would have taken the Sixers about $3m over the luxury tax line, but still well under the $209m hard cap.

The Pacers pick up a productive wing after finalizing a deal with Oubre and his agent Dave Spahn of CAA Sports moments ago.

The Sixers could have matched these numbers and stayed under the hard cap... But Josh Harris is definitely willing to pay the tax this year, for sure.

perhaps future moves will prove this wrong, but hard not to see the luxury tax hovering over the Sixers' (apparent) refusal to match this deal. it's a good price for a durable wing who can scale up when needed. and it's only two years!

I know he wasn’t the most popular Sixer, but I did enjoy the Oubre experience more than I thought I would. Always played hard, hustled. Flaws and all. Great fit with Indiana.

I fully support this signing by the Pacers, as they needed a bucket getter and chaos agent in the wake of losing Benny Math. Also, I can't wait to see Oubre dye his hair blue and gold.

*runs numbers* my Pacers get 21% dreamier next season

Going to miss this guy. He was always fun to watch

I was hoping this would happen but I wasn’t confident. Really happy with this!

Doesn’t really change anything for the Sixers 2026-2027 chances (they have none) but I always liked watching Oubre. Definite vibes downgrade on the team
