Colorado Gov. Jared Polis fires two clemency board members over Tina Peters commutation

On Saturday Gov. Jared Polis participated in a wide-open Reddit ask-me-anything session and answered at least 32 times about his past positive remarks toward Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Polis defended his earlier comments that he was “excited” about Kennedy as Health and Human Services secretary while saying he is against vaccine mandates and that he has criticized Kennedy on vaccines and other scientific claims. Polis wrote in all caps, “I AM AGAINST EUGENICS,” and told users he supports Kennedy’s stated goals on nutrition, reducing pesticide use, and lowering prescription drug costs while rejecting pseudo-science. Polis argued the media latches onto the one positive line he says about Kennedy and repeated that he believes Kennedy is “not beholden to big pharma.” He also reiterated a position in the AMA that he “believe[s] in bodily autonomy” and tied that to opposition to vaccine mandates, even as the article notes he previously urged Colorado’s Board of Health to adopt a vaccine mandate for health care workers during the COVID pandemic. Polis urged civility and working with people who hold opposing views and did not retract his earlier supportive phrasing about Kennedy.
