Canada Day, maple leaf celebrations across the country
Canada Day is an odd one to me. I used to be genuinely patriotic. I was very proud of wearing the maple leaf on my arm 12 years. I'm no longer any of that, but I earnestly believe this place can be better than it was, and is. The sum of our parts is good, but we have to earn a better future.
This is very well put, and sums up my feelings as well.
Agreed. I don’t see a reason to celebrate our country when we aren’t particularly proud of it. The fact that the last election was “which guy isn’t going to legislate people out of existence” and not “who is going to be best to lead us to be better” is really telling.
Among all the evil things this country has done it's also produced people like Norman Bethune and Tommy Douglas. There's a seed of greatness here, if we nurture it
I'm only a patriot whenever Trump threatens to annex us. Fuck that guy and fuck the US.
