Loud clash in House hearing over Renee Good and Alex Pretti

Rep. Jamie Raskin and Rep. Mike Lawler erupted in a screaming match during a House Judiciary hearing on Tuesday after clashing over immigration and the deaths of Renée Good and Alex Pretti. Raskin tried to get Lawler to condemn the killings of Good and Pretti, who protesters and several posts say were shot by Trump administration immigration agents during a Minneapolis protest in January. Lawler rejected that line and instead raised family members of victims killed by undocumented immigrants, prompting Raskin to tell him to get out of the hearing room as voices escalated. The confrontation interrupted the hearing and focused attention back on calls to investigate deaths involving ICE and related federal agents. The exchange also coincided with renewed demands for release of body camera footage and for formal inquiries into deaths of people in ICE encounters.
