Judge denies Bruce Lehrmann access to Brittany Higgins documentary footage

Queensland Judge Deborah Richards denied former political staffer Bruce Lehrmann’s bid to obtain raw footage from the Brittany Higgins documentary "Silenced," ruling the material will not be released ahead of his criminal trial. The documentary’s producers told the court their film will not affect the Toowoomba trial, which is listed for November. Filmmakers signalled they are seeking legal costs from Lehrmann after the application was knocked back. Lehrmann faces two counts of raping another woman in Toowoomba in 2021; the judge said Ms Higgins is not a witness in this trial. With the footage withheld, the case proceeds toward the November trial date and any costs application will be dealt with separately.
