Seattle Kraken select Chase Reid No. 7 overall

If #NYR leave today with Dorofeyev and Smits, it's a big step forward. Youth, speed, skill, areas of need. I get the Chase Reid thing, I do. But don't let the mean streak thing get in the way of recognizing that many thought he could be the best D in the draft. Kid is a player.

Want to also put it out there if only for posterity that I'd probably have preferred Chase Reid in the No. 3 spot for Vancouver, if pressed, but the Caleb Malhotra pick is altogether reasonable in its own right & passes my "is this pick reasonable" benchmark by a lot so no qualms

Calgary also apparently loved Carels, and they too stick with "their guy" at No. 6 despite Chase Reid being there. Seattle stops his slide... right?

Calgary, then Seattle, then Winnipeg. All of Chase Reid, Carson Carels, and Keaton Verhoeff on the board. Same goes for Viggo Bjorck. It's a tricky top end... But more and more it looks like the #NHLJets will do well today. (FWIW, I think CGY takes Carels or Bjorck. We shall see!)
