The San Jose Sharks selected Swedish winger Ivar Stenberg with the second overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. Stenberg, 18, spent 2025-26 with Frölunda in the Swedish Hockey League, where he led all teenagers with 11 goals and 22 assists for 33 points in 43 games. Stenberg won gold at the 2026 World Junior Championship. Laila Edwards announced the Sharks' No. 2 pick at the draft, and Stenberg arrived at the event with brothers Otto and Knut at his side. The top five of the draft featured Gavin McKenna at No. 1 and Stenberg at No. 2, with Caleb Malhotra, Daxon Rudolph, and Alberts Smits also going in the early selections. Observers called Stenberg among the most NHL ready prospects in the class and a likely impact forward for San Jose next season.
