Three-team trade sends Julius Randle to Brooklyn; Nic Claxton to Chicago
The Timberwolves traded Julius Randle and the No. 28 draft pick to the Brooklyn Nets, the Chicago Bulls received Nic Claxton, and Minnesota acquired Brooklyn’s No. 33 pick in a three-team deal. Brooklyn adds Randle, who spent two seasons in Minnesota, as a veteran frontcourt scorer and rebounder while also collecting a late first-round pick. Chicago acquired Claxton to upgrade rim protection and anchor its interior defense. Minnesota cleared significant salary and dropped below the luxury-tax apron, opening exceptions and cap room that lets the Wolves re-sign Ayo Dosunmu or pursue free-agent upgrades before draft night.
Just in: Minnesota is sending Julius Randle and the No. 28 pick in the NBA Draft to the Brooklyn Nets in a three-team trade that sends Nic Claxton to the Chicago Bulls, sources tell ESPN. The Timberwolves will acquire Brooklyn’s No. 33 pick for Randle and No. 28.
IDK what Julius did to deserve this but I'm not saying he didn't deserve it
I hate this. The new CBA is so restrictive teams can’t keep anybody. Nuggets running into this as well. OKC should be able to keep their team together for a long time and they basically have a year or two at best. Same with SA.
So pure salary dump from a perceived contender?
Welcome back to NYC, Julius.
This has to be the first step to a bigger deal.
and Chicago gives up nothing at all to acquire Claxton? How?
So moving back five slots and a pure salary dump? I hope they sign someone with that exception at least.
