Mondelez defends keeping Cadbury operations in Russia

Mondelez CEO Dirk Van de Put said it was "the right decision" to keep Cadbury manufacturing and other operations running in Russia after the invasion of Ukraine. Van de Put said the company aimed to be neutral, argued staying preserved jobs in Russia, and acknowledged Mondelez pays Russian taxes that help fund the war. That stance forces an ethical choice for consumers and policymakers weighing protection of local employees against the fact that corporate taxes flow to the Russian state.

There is a massive gap in the market for someone to set up a new company selling old recipe Cadburys. Some old Brummie pensioner knows the industrial recipe, has a very lapsed NDA and you know it would be sold out everywhere.

Consider how 'ethical' Old Cadbury's was in its treatment of the people who grew, harvested & produced the cocoa & sugar of their staple brands & where they are in the 'beautiful history'. Likewise fellow pious hypocrites Rowntrees & Frys. As for New Cadbury, capitalism does what capitalism does.

As a consumer if you (out there) are not happy with Mondelez, continuing after nearly 5 years, to be trading in Russia, then don’t buy their products. Difficult as they are everywhere, but not impossible.
