Hockey Night in Canada will not air on CBC next season

Rogers Sportsnet will assume full national NHL broadcasting rights and Hockey Night in Canada will not air on CBC next season after the two sides failed to reach a new sublicensing agreement. CBC confirmed it will not carry NHL games when Rogers' new deal with the league begins, and the last NHL game on CBC aired this past Sunday. The change ends decades of Saturday-night NHL on Canada’s public broadcaster and shifts marquee national coverage exclusively to a privately owned network, altering where and how Canadians will watch national games.

The practical reality is that, if you aren’t a Leafs fan, you probably weren’t watching CBC anyway. I have spent most of my life watching Habs games on SRC, TSN/RDS, TVA or wherever else they thrown them.
