JD Vance calls 'childless cat ladies' quip 'one of the dumbest things I ever said'
Vice President JD Vance writes in his memoir Communion that his 2021 jab about "childless cat ladies" was "one of the dumbest things I ever said." He says the line, which targeted Vice President Kamala Harris and other Democratic women, was "boneheaded" and expresses regret for using it. Vance had defended the remark during the 2024 campaign but now distances himself from that rhetoric in the book. The change matters because it signals an effort to soften his public image and could affect how women voters and conservative backers view his future political prospects.
Salon: JD Vance's “Communion” book tour is showcasing Vance’s incompetence as a politician. He swore to USA Today that he tries to “make wise decisions & moral decisions.” Sadly for Vance, a NY Times story revealed how he tried to minimize Trump & Epstein's relationship. #ProudBlue #Pinks #SheShed
The Situation Room had a situation. And it had nothing to do with geopolitical conflicts. It had to do with conflicted souls, morality and protecting pedophiles. Every attendee should be outed.
No Catholic calls it “communion”, further proof he’s not Catholic.
Vance is a pathetic, opportunistic rube.
The “I’m Just A Phony” book tour.
I always like it when they show Vance talking on TV like he is all smart... (Orange Suck Up Show) It's hard to fully embrace the words of someone known for "Hillbilly Elegy" and the art of couch humping...
JD Vance is a product of Peter Thiel, who is obsessed with Carl Schmitt. Schmitt argued that a dictator seizes power through a "state of exception"—when the rules are suspended due to some "emergency." "Sovereign is he who decides on the exception." Vance is vastly more dangerous than Trump.

It’s hard to say! Despite his dopey presentation he did go to law school. He would understand the Lawfare strategy if not the tactical approaches to getting that done. But from a public perception perspective he’s fucking creamed corn. He wouldn’t last an hour
As clumsily prefigured by George Lucas in Star Wars prequels.
Been saying this to friends and family for a few years. Lotta blank stares. Doubt we’ll even have a staged election. The real fun to start soon.
Thanks for the validation. Perhaps, because Trumps's psychopathology and behavior take up all of the oxygen in the room, the view that JD Vance is more dangerous isn't comprehensible to many, possibly most, people.
Only one problem .... NO ONE GOT PAID. That is a fantasy of the Republicans and probably a tell for them.
Well, he’d like to be more dangerous, but let’s see if anyone likes and backs him.
As long as the police force and military go along...the civilised people of the shithole country named America are cooked. Look at Russia and China and tell me those folks had any chance... because 60% of uneducated pricks are enough to tank democracy.
there were a *lot* of people deeply invested in the myth of jd vance, the rural boy with the bad family who grew up and done good, but that myth required someone whose defining personality traits weren't lazy resentment and incuriousity about the world
everything about him is a lie, and in that sense, he probably *is* the rightful heir to trumpian conservatism, no values or principles, just resentments and whines and complaints
HE’S FROM EXURBAN CINCY AND NOT EVEN APPALACHIAN!!!! I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL!!!!
Two books I’ve ever purchased in my life that I curse having given the author any of my money. One was the book on the Montreal Expos by horrific wife beater Jonah Keri (his crimes weren’t yet known when I read it), the other was Hillbilly Elegy.
Hey now, let's be fair! He also has no deeply held principles besides "what will be good for me in this particular moment in time"
Plus he was accepted into Yale law and these people's obsession with college admission and prestige etc means they can't accept the possibility that he isn't a brain genius, it would undermine their own identity
He's got a smarmy kind of confidence that people mistake for "smart" especially if they themselves are dumb or gullible
James Bowman, James Hamel, or James (J.D.) Vance (name changes) is trying to cleanup his act (and it is one) including the "childless cat ladies" references about Democratic women to try and sell books and start a campaign for President. Nope! #SheShed www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...
No one on earth could possibly want to read that book. Or have him as president.
He may regret saying it but he still believes it and his policy ideas are the same, force women to have babies.
I agree. I think this cat summarizes how I feel about JD Vance and his couch-grifter self.
The reason people aren’t having children is not due to "the idea that raising a family will prevent you from realizing your utmost potential in your professional life, and thus, you shouldn't have kids." Stupid GOP framing and he knows it.
Vance is a flip flopping, tall tale telling fraud.
He is so smarmy! And a bit scary because he is smarter than Trump. Admittedly the bar is low and his isn’t half as smart as he thinks he is but still smarter. And a very smooth liar.
“One of the dumbest things I ever said came when I argued that ‘childless cat ladies’ across the Democrat Party were running our country into the ground,” Vance writes in the book, a copy of which was obtained and read by NBC News.
I remember him putting his own constituents at risk by pushing the lie that Haitian immigrants were eating pets. He is a truly terrible person.
look at this little worm trying to pivot back to the center
I’m sure it’s a sincerely held belief. Which is why this apology means nothing and why it’s a great reflection of his total lack of political instincts
Minimizing this man's comments and plugging his book. Great. This is the guy who wanted to declare an emergency in MN to remove habeas corpus after Renee Good was murdered. He is dangerous.
Vance is really dumb I’ll give him that
A true statement from a man who says a lot of stupid things.
