A skydiving plane carrying 11 skydivers and a pilot crashed shortly after takeoff from Butler Memorial Airport in Butler, Missouri, on Sunday morning, killing all 12 people onboard, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said. Officials described the aircraft as a Pacific Aerospace P-750 XSTOL that failed to gain altitude, made a sharp left turn and struck the ground about 300 yards from the runway after a steep descent. The National Transportation Safety Board and local agencies have opened an investigation, and authorities say the circumstances could prompt closer scrutiny of skydiving flight procedures and aircraft loading.
