Armenia election, Pashinyan’s Civil Contract wins near 50%
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's Civil Contract party won 49.81% of the vote in Armenia's parliamentary election, the Central Election Commission said. Those results translate to an absolute majority of 61 of 105 seats, leaving Civil Contract nine seats short of the supermajority required to change the constitution or unilaterally approve a peace referendum with Azerbaijan. The Moscow-aligned Strong Armenia alliance finished second with about 23.3% and the Armenia Alliance took roughly 9.8%, weakening Russia's preferred political options in Yerevan. The outcome gives Pashinyan a clear pro-Western mandate to govern alone and to press negotiations on security, European ties, and the contested peace process.
The Armenian people overwhelmingly voted for the pro-European "Civil Contract Party", with 49.8% in this elections. The pro-Russian "Armenia Alliance" received only 23.3%. This marks another major defeat for Russia, which tried everything to influence and manipulate this elections.
Congratulations to Armenia!! It seems that the citizens of "weak/new democracies" are much more principled than the citizens of "established/old democracies"... Time to humble ourselves and learn from them!
Nobody wants Russia for anything anymore. Russia's time is over. The country will break apart into small nations.
Congratulations to Armenia 🇦🇲 with the strong election result and their choice of democracy. 🫶🏻🕊️

The Armenian people sure could use some good news. I hope the Western governments respond with more than just encouraging rhetoric
Russian influence is crumbling faster every day.
Be sure to throw any Trump surrogates out of your country.
Some sorely needed good news in an ocean of bad.
