House Democrats help kill Tlaib resolution to constrain Trump on Lebanon
The House rejected Rep. Rashida Tlaib's resolution to limit President Trump's authority over Lebanon by a vote of 324 to 92. A majority of House Democrats opposed the measure, with 117 Democrats voting against it and 91 Democrats supporting it. Tlaib's resolution would have barred use of federal funds for military operations in or against Lebanon without prior congressional authorization. By defeating the resolution, Congress leaves the president able to continue or expand operations in Lebanon without a new statutory authorization from Congress.
Interesting situation developing now where House Democratic leadership announces that they will vote against Rashida Tlaib's Lebanon War Powers Resolution and then introduce their own version of a Lebanon Wars Power Resolution (?) and then they'll ask Tlaib to help them with it (?)
