Green Party criticised as no MPs attend Parliament session on trans rights
No Green Party MP attended a UK Parliament session debating trans and non-binary rights, leaving the party unrepresented during the proceedings. Party members have demanded an official statement from Green leadership explaining the absence and clarifying whether the party supports the measures under consideration. Advocates warn the absence removes a potential parliamentary ally at a high-stakes moment for equality legislation and could damage the Greens' credibility on trans rights.
💚 Green Party MPs @sianberry.bsky.social, @carladenyer.bsky.social and @greenpartyhan.bsky.social have all sponsored the Trans+ History Week EDM 🚫 Yet @elliechowns.bsky.social and @adrianramsay.bsky.social have not - their continued refusal to stand up for Trans people's human rights speaks volumes
They’re both on the “A Very British Bigotry” list here for a reason.
Yes their ongoing silent support for the genocide of trans people in the UK is a stain on the party. I have no doubt that, prior to the next election, they will be challenged for their right to stand as green MPs
I didn't vote for @greenparty.org.uk last election solely due to Adrian Ramsay's transphobia.
I support trans rights, but I am getting so, so tired of the pile-ons from the Nothing-Is-Ever-Good-Enough brigade. 67 today (yawn) and I have never. Ever. Known a party be so supportive of trans rights as the Green Party under Polanski. But apparently, it's not enough for some. I'm sorry to do...
... so, but I'm starting to use the block button for those who, were Polanski to chain himself to a roof for twenty-four hours with 'I support trans rights' tattooed on his forehead shouting his support through a megaphone, would complain it wasn't thirty-six. I saw the same pile-on with Corbyn...
Happy birthday Pete, have a lovely day 💚 ... and I agree with you.
Happy birthday Pete, and thank you for putting this with such calm, logic, and compassion - as Quakers say, 'you speak my heart'.
People pulling support as if any other party in the UK would possibly be a better option for trans people right now...
