David Costello presents himself as a viable alternative in Maine primary
David Costello is positioning himself as a viable alternative to Graham Platner in the Maine Democratic primary to challenge Republican Sen. Susan Collins, WHO is seeking a sixth term. Costello and Platner are competing for the nomination as Democrats aim to flip Collins’s seat and change control of the Senate. Maine’s ranked-choice voting makes Andrea LaFlamme a qualified write-in option, so the primary’s final tabulation will determine WHO faces Collins in the general election.
Seriously, Maine, you have ranked choice! You do not have to vote for Sinema in a Henley! I promise! You can even No Award Platner, like we do for the Hugos, just don’t assign him a number at all. You have Andrea LaFlamme and David Costello right there, for your one and two, as you please.
I’m so mad that Maine gets RCV and CA is stuck with a jungle primary
Go ahead and shoot yourselves in the foot. Both these candidates are good people with good ideas, but the reality is Platner is the sole candidate who can beat Collins. Seeking perfection and purity have been the bane of the party, especially the left wing (to which I belong). Collins must go!
Oh, "Sinema in a Henley" is the phrase of the week. Oh, Platner will never be described so aptly!
