Judge Mehta declines DOJ motion to dismiss Oath Keepers indictments

newsMay 30, 20265160

U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta declined the Justice Department's request to automatically dismiss criminal indictments against pardoned Oath Keepers WHO were convicted of seditious conspiracy and related charges for the January 6 attack. The DOJ moved to drop the indictments after President Trump issued pardons, but Mehta refused and prevented an immediate dismissal. The ruling preserves the government's ability to litigate how presidential pardons affect Jan. 6 seditious conspiracy convictions and keeps those defendants subject to ongoing criminal process.
