BBC Verify: Ukraine using AI drones to strike Russian supply convoys

BBC Verify has analysed videos showing Ukraine using AI-guided drones to strike Russian trucks carrying ammunition, fuel and food in occupied areas. Analyst Clément Molin of think tank Atum Mundi confirmed the destruction of 150 vehicles in multiple incidents, with many strikes occurring more than 20 km (12 miles) from the front line. The footage shows drones autonomously identifying and pursuing moving resupply trucks, indicating AI is guiding targeting rather than only remote piloting. That matters because sustained disruption of Russian logistics can degrade frontline combat operations and represents a significant increase in autonomous targeting on the battlefield.
