Hacks series finale airs, creators say ending was planned
HBO's Hacks concluded its run with a series finale that centers on Jean Smart's Deborah Vance and Hannah Einbinder's Ava. Creators Lucia Aniello and Jen Statsky said they mapped the show's ending years earlier and intentionally scripted the final beats to complete Deborah's arc. The closing sequence uses a needle-drop of Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand's "Happy Days Are Here Again" to punctuate the finale's stage-ready sendoff. That planned resolution ties up the mentor-protégé relationship and wraps the series' themes of fame, reinvention and the personal costs of comedy.
The series finale of Hacks was, dare I say, perfect…?
The Eiffel Tower transition alone was *chefs kiss*
fact, the lesbian episode will live on in infamy
Sobbing. Crying. Throwing up. Perfection.
ending with Judy and Barbara was flawless, brought a tear to my eye
I agree … which is rare for finales
It was so good 😭
Same here! Jean Smart's finale monologue still gives me chills. What did you love most about it?
Down to the closing song!
Night of excellent TV: FOR ALL MANKIND, very solid series finale. HACKS, also a series finale, funny and touching as always, a great send off. MAXIMUM PLEASURE GUARANTEED, 3 episodes in, I’m officially declaring it a really good show, and Tatiana Maslany — no surprise — is fucking sensational.
For all Mankind ending was really good…who cares if Miles was a rat years ago….he stepped up when needed…Darkness at Noon speaks About those moments when fear overcomes moral clarity…..sometimes things just end badly
