MLB owners propose a hard salary cap, $245.3M cap and $171.2M floor for 2027
Major League Baseball owners formally proposed a hard salary cap in their opening CBA economic offer, setting a $245.3 million cap and a $171.2 million minimum payroll floor for 2027. The proposal pairs those figures with a 50-50 split of baseball revenues and marks the first formal salary cap attempt since the 1994-95 strike. The players' association has vowed to reject a hard cap, making this proposal the central labor flashpoint that will determine free-agent pay, team spending, and the shape of the next collective bargaining agreement.

This is as likely to pass as my offer to buy the Phillies for $1,000
The players should want this. A floor of 171 is huge. As or is now only about 5 teams actually try to sign mid to high end FA's. If teams have to spend 171 then that opens up almost all teams. Huge win for the players.
