Donkey Kong 64 coming to Nintendo Switch Online June 4

Nintendo published a Nintendo Classics N64 video announcing that Donkey Kong 64 will arrive on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack on June 4, 2026. The Rare-developed 1999 Nintendo 64 platformer is being added to the Nintendo Classics N64 library so subscribers can play the full game on Switch. The inclusion expands the Expansion Pack's N64 catalog and makes Donkey Kong 64 accessible without original cartridges or N64 hardware.

After playing the swap anywhere romhack, I can never go back to vanilla. Nintendo could afford to put a bit of work in to offer us both the original experience on their emulators and some nice amenities like widescreen and QoL features.

I wish I understood the excitement, but it just seems like Banjo-Kazooie with moves and collectibles split between multiple characters making it more tedious. It may be "free", but time is money, and this game feels needlessly expensive.

Donkey Kong 64 is a game I probably have logged over 100 hours on over my lifetime and have 101% completed it the last time I played it. So I have full authority when I say that it is a game meant purely for sickos and you must keep that in mind when you play it.

That's about where I am with it, now you mention it. I ended up with one because that+expansion pak used was cheaper than a new pak alone (I was buying Majora's Mask) and... I think I played it, I guess? I must have?
