Remedy CEO says Alan Wake and Control 'should have sold more'
Remedy's new CEO said Alan Wake and Control "should have sold more" and that upcoming movie and TV deals with Annapurna will help broaden those franchises' audiences. The CEO described both titles as critical hits that underperformed commercially and presented cross-media adaptations as a deliberate strategy to turn acclaim into bigger sales. Remedy expects film and television versions to introduce mainstream viewers to its games, boost future game sales, and give the studio more leverage for larger projects.

How about not everything has to be a transmedia infinite growth success (was Twin Peaks??) and people should be able to make niche titles that they fully enjoy that say whatever it is they want to say about life or the possibilities of the universe. The industry was better for it.
It's not rocket science why those games didn't sell more. Control had a one year exclusivity deal with Epic Games Store, and Alan Wake 2 is still exclusive to the Epic Games Store...and hardly anyone wants to use that storefront or client.
How about getting them on Switch 2 in playable ways?
Well, they're fucked Hope they get to finish MP remake before they go under
The sports betting CEO? 😬 Got a bad feeling about this
I had a dream my favorite game studio was dead, and it was (not) ok
Why are we still letting CEO's into the creative business?????
Exactly what I thought about when Remedy was bought. I knew whoever was running it would find a way to rip out the heart. Enjoy what we get out of Control later this year, it's likely the last time Remedy is going to feel like Remedy.
“But as franchises Control, Alan Wake, etcetera, could give a lot more. There’s a vision on thinking bigger for some of these IPs, which need to find its audience much, much further than the current audience.” Oh no Oh noooooooooo www.videogameschronicle.com/news/remedys...
Yes as we all know the quality of any team’s output has always and only ever been improved by a “MAKE LINE GO UP MORE” guy, that has never gone wrong or been a massive mistake
10-15 years ago, when budgets weren't insane because AAA is just chasing graphics and eyeballs now, you could get away with a weird Remedy title and make your money back with a smaller audience. Your game needs a multimedia strategy from jump.
Remedy's new CEO is Mr Scratch noooo
