The New York Knicks win Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals, 130-93. They have swept the Cavs. They have won 11 straight games by a total of 262 points. They are going to the NBA Finals — the franchise's first Finals appearance since 1999. Somehow, all of that is true.

Watching the Knicks sweep the Cavaliers tonight made me think about how you swept the cobwebs from around my heart without even trying. Funny how the city’s celebrating a sweep, and I’m over here missing the person who swept me off my feet too....

The Knicks are in great company as they head to the NBA Finals. Teams to win 11 straight playoff games in the same spring: 2017 Warriors (champs), 1999 Spurs (champs), 2001 Lakers (champs), 1989 Lakers (swept in the Finals). And now the 2026 New York Knicks.

Many years ago I made peace with the fact that the Knicks will never win an NBA title in my lifetime. If this ends up as another 1999 Finals ass-beating, I can live with it. We'll always have this 11-game romp through the East.

Electing Mamdani? Congestion pricing? Violent crime at all time lows? Balanced city budget? Taxing rich people? Free childcare? And now the Knicks are in the NBA finals? New York is up so much right now. The worst part is that NYC friends are not even rubbing it in anymore. They know that I know.

wishing that @bigpumpkin4real was with us today to enjoy his knicks finally making it back to the finals. i’ve been thinking about how dennis brought me to my first nba playoffs game in 2013, where i got to see the old ass celtics get walloped by new york, and that good guy was just so happy. RIP.
