Active shooter at Islamic Center of San Diego, two suspects dead

Today's shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego is horrific. Every American should be able to worship without having to worry about their safety. Tonight, I’m holding all of those impacted in my heart.

In light of the tragic shooting at the Islamic Center in San Diego, here's a quote from the nation's Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. GOP Rep. Randy Fine wants the destruction of mainstream Muslims. Andy Ogles & Tuberville have also doubled down on hateful comments. Why are we surprised?

I am horrified to hear about the deadly shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego. My heart is with the victims, their loved ones, and the entire Muslim community. I fully condemn Islamophobia in all its forms. Everyone should be able to practice their beliefs without fear.

I am heartbroken and horrified by the shooting that took place today at the Islamic Center of San Diego. This targeting of a place of worship cannot be separated from decades of hateful, dehumanizing, Islamophobic rhetoric that fuels senseless violence.

Amin Abdullah was the security guard shot and killed in the mass shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego. San Diego's police chief said Amin, "played a pivotal role" in preventing the attack from being far worse.

Without giving too much attention to the perpetrators of the Islamic Center of San Diego shooting, it's haunting me that the shooters were only 17 and 19. What type of society do we live in that produces such radicalizing hatred at such a prime age? A damning indictment, truly.
