Google unveiled Googlebook, a Gemini-powered laptop platform running a new Android-centered operating system positioned as a successor to Chromebooks. The OS centers on Android, incorporates ChromeOS features, and introduces AI-first tools such as the Magic Pointer plus support for desktop-grade apps. Google said it is developing Googlebooks with hardware partners Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo, but it did not reveal any consumer laptops or shipping dates at the announcement. The move pushes AI and Android compatibility onto laptops, aiming to bring richer app experiences and AI features to education and everyday users.
