Polling stations opened today across Scotland, Wales and England as voters cast ballots in the Scottish Parliament (Holyrood), Senedd and thousands of local council contests, with polls scheduled to run from 7am until 10pm. Scots are choosing Holyrood members amid a final campaign push from pro-independence parties and recent opinion polls placing the Scottish National Party on track to lead again. Voters in Wales are selecting Senedd members while millions across England vote in local contests, and in Kent only one of the county's 13 local authorities is holding an in person vote in the borough's last ever election. The outcomes will determine control of local councils, shape devolved government policy on issues such as independence and public services, and set the political tone ahead of national contests.
