Scottish Election Day, Greens ask voters to use list vote

politicsMay 7, 202635846

On polling day the Scottish Greens urged voters to back the Scottish National Party in constituency ballots and to vote Scottish Greens on the regional list, pointing voters to the peach-coloured list paper. Campaign messages reminded people they do not need photo ID, that postal votes can be handed in at polling stations, and warned against 'spoiler' parties such as Independent Green Voice and Reform UK on regional lists. The Greens say that using constituency and list votes this way can tip tight regional contests, increase the number of pro-independence MSPs and block far-right gains, making the tactical list vote consequential for Scotland's independence balance of power.
