Fans argue Rogue One is the best modern Star Wars film
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is being praised as the best post‑Lucas Star Wars film for its World War II 'men-on-mission' tone, tight squad-raid plot and darker, scarier moments. Gareth Edwards directed the film while Tony Gilroy performed late-stage rewrites and reshoots that sharpened the first two acts and the film's wartime pacing. The franchise logged 33 billion streaming minutes in 2025, with films making up 44.2 percent of that total and Rogue One placing third among films behind A New Hope and The Phantom Menace; Andor led live-action viewing with 7.4 billion minutes. That emphasis on grounded, morally messy raids and Darth Vader's relentless hallway sequence explains why many now view Rogue One as the Disney-era entry that most successfully expanded Star Wars beyond the Skywalker saga.
Rogue One is the best Star Wars movie by a country mile.
That seems to be a popular opinion on Bluesky🤭
I see I've met my nemesis. bsky.app/profile/nudr...
Rogue One is awful, and marks the downward descent of Star Wars Media. It's a depressing, morbid, excruciating slog. Gareth Edwards enitre pitch must have been "What if Star Wars... but also Twitter Poltiical arguments, and it ends with glorious suicide!"
Just needed to end with the beach being destroyed. Everything from then on is thematically inappropriate.
I don't agree per se although it's one of the three in my top tier of SW films, but this argument seems barely controversial.
Star Wars ranks; worst to best. Some hot takes prob. RoS Resistance Tales of the Empire Tales of the Underworld TPM AotC Obi-Wan Boba Fett Mandalorian TFA Ahsoka TLJ Solo Maul Shadow Lord Tales of the Jedi Skeleton Crew Visions Acolyte Clone Wars Rebels Rogue One Bad Batch RotJ RotS ANH ESB Andor
To be clear, Clone Wars and The Last Jedi would prob be higher if I just ranked them on how much I love their best parts alone, but they also have some real low lows that pull them down. And yes, I like the Acolyte that much, fight me.
Glad to see skeleton crew that high up. However, for all its flaws, I can't help but love phantom menace- my only real disagreement here
people really have been unduly kind to Revenge of the Sith😅
I misread your post and thought it was best to worst for a moment, lol.
I read "worst to best" the wrong way around and was _incredibly_ confused starting to read that list.
I somehow missed that this was worst to best and thought you were trolling for a second
Me, an EU fan: Which Tales of the Jedi? 😭
is the old clone wars being lumped in with the 3D version?
Andor is basically perfect, imo.
Did I just miss it or did you forget the Ewok Adventure? (That was the English title, right?) Yeah, it's silly, but to me that was one of the best. 🙈
