Three passengers have died aboard an Atlantic cruise ship after a suspected hantavirus outbreak, the World Health Organization said. The World Health Organization confirmed one hantavirus infection and is investigating five additional suspected cases while the ship remains at sea. Hantaviruses are typically transmitted from rodents and can cause hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, a severe respiratory illness with high fatality, making onboard containment and rodent control urgent.
