Israeli navy intercepts Global Sumud Flotilla near Crete

newsApr 29, 202637636

The Israeli navy boarded and seized seven Global Sumud Flotilla vessels near Crete as activists attempted to sail to Gaza to deliver aid. The operation captured seven of about 58 boats participating in the flotilla, which had departed from multiple Mediterranean ports. Global Sumud spokesperson Gur Tsabar said Israeli forces boarded the group's vessels and described the action as an attack on unarmed civilian boats. The interception blocks part of the humanitarian aid mission to Gaza and raises immediate legal and humanitarian questions about enforcement of the Israeli blockade.
