Israeli navy intercepts Global Sumud Flotilla near Crete

newsApr 29, 202633502

The Israeli navy boarded and seized seven Global Sumud Flotilla vessels near Crete as the activist fleet tried to sail to Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid. Global Sumud Flotilla spokesperson Gur Tsabar said Israeli forces used armed boarding teams and electronic jamming, that communications with multiple boats were lost, and that crew members were detained. The flotilla numbered about 58 vessels from several countries; the interception hundreds of nautical miles from Gaza raises legal and diplomatic questions and may prompt consular and international scrutiny.
